How Chiropractic Care is Regulated in the Public Interest in Alberta
Albertans must be able to trust health professionals and the services they provide. The College of Chiropractors of Alberta (CCOA) works for the public to oversee the chiropractic profession to help ensure Albertans receive safe, competent and ethical care.
CCOA does this through:
- Ensuring chiropractors in Alberta meet minimum standards of education, experience and good character.
- Maintaining a public register that lists the chiropractors who are permitted to practice chiropractic in Alberta and those who are not, and any that have permit conditions or discipline history, dating back 10 years.
- Setting and enforcing clinical and ethical rules that chiropractors must follow.
- Receiving complaints and prosecuting unprofessional conduct.
